- Revision History:
-
-
- Changes : CD-CACHE
-
- CD-CACHE Version Beta 0.1 now supports EMS memory for caching.
-
- 1.1 ANY disk error sets media changed bit & flushes cache for
- drive. Occassionally, the odd error would go undetected &
- cause garbage data to be returned to the redirector. This has
- been cured
-
- 1.2 CD-Cache didn't set the request header return
- code for successful reads from cache - both CDC.EXE and
- CDS.EXE updated to set return code. This problem affected only those
- programs that don't use MSCDEX (e.g. Books in Print).
-
- : CDM
- 1.3 A problem where CD-Manager would report a connection to an
- incorrect device unit number on a CD-Server was cured.
-
- 1.3 CDS/CDR
-
- Non-Dedicated CDserver performance WHEN USING CD-CACHE improved by
- up to 5 times.
-
- CDServer now preserves all important registers when calling the
- CDROM device drivers in order to protect itself from those vicous
- CDROM device drivers which insist upon destroying the contents of
- those registers (even though the MicroSoft standard says that they
- should be preserved).
-
- Compatibility with Novell's NETBIOS emulator improved.
-
- Local stack sizes increased for both CDS.EXE and CDR.EXE
-
- 1.4 Performance of non-dedicated servers improved for both local and remote
- users. /WAIT option added for CDM - causes connect command to wait for
- server to come on line.
-
-
- ****** CD_CACHE USERS ***********
-
-
- Do NOT use EXTended type for your cache if HIMEM.SYS or QEMM.SYS memory managers
- are in use - use type=XMS. If you attempt to use EXTended then CD-CACHE
- and HIMEM.SYS will both attempt to manage the same extended memory and a
- system crash is inevitable.
